Note "Taxonomic remark: Canthocamptus hyperboreus was described by Willey (1925) in his "Northern Cyclopidae and Canthocamptidae". Lang (1948) makes reference to Attheyella (Brehmiella) illinoisensis subsp. hyperborea in Willey's (1931: 359) "Preliminary report on copepod plankton collected by the Station Biologique du St. Laurent à Trois Pistoles, in July, 1931", but that specific paper cited by Lang ranges from page 82 to page 84 and mentions Calanus hyperboreus. Lang's (1948) reference to Willey (1931) for Attheyella (Brehmiella) illinoisensis subsp. hyperborea was probably a slip of the pen. In his study on some Laurentian copepods and their variations, Willey (1934: 85) wrote that "...C. hyperboreus is but an arrested form of C. illinoisensis" (= C. illinoisensis forma hyperborea). Chappuis (1929) reallocated Canthocamptus illinoisensis (and C. illinoisensis hyperboreus) in Attheyella (Brehmiella). The subgenus group name Brehmiella was then replaced by Mrazekiella by Brehm (1949), and Mrazekiella was re" for taxon Canthocamptus hyperboreus Willey, 1925 has been added by Samuel Enrique Gómez-Noguera via the webinterface on 2024-04-24T15:48:42+00:00
